Bollywood is deeply connected to our lives. Most of us adopt the songs, dialogues and the style of the heroes and heroines of the films in our lifestyle. But the year 2025 was full of ups and downs for Bollywood. There were some films which made us feel – Wow! This is Bollywood , and some films disappointed so much that the audience felt that they wasted both their money and time.
In this blog, I will give you a list of the biggest hit and flop movies of 2025. I will also tell you why some movies rock the box office and why some movies fail at all.

Pathan Returns
Shah Rukh Khan has always been the king of romance, but when he gave an action film like Pathan , everyone was surprised. When Pathan Returns released in 2025, the theaters were literally housefull.
Story: This time the story was even more exciting. It had a patriotic flavour and a new avatar of Shahrukh was seen.
Action and VFX: The action sequences were so grand that it felt like watching a Hollywood movie.
Fan connection: Women were especially impressed by SRK’s dialogues and his onscreen personality. I personally felt in the theatre that people came for SRK’s energy and not just his acting.

Singham Again
The memories of the craze of Ajay Devgn’s Singham franchise are still fresh in people’s minds. Singham Again, released in 2025, was enthusiastically embraced by the audience.

Songs and Dialogues: People in the theatre danced to the songs and kept whistling at the dialogues.

Pushpa 2 (Hindi Release)
The magic of South continued to dominate Bollywood this year as well. When the Hindi version of Pushpa 2 was released, the audience of North India also became crazy about Allu Arjun.
Craze of dialogues: The whole theatre echoed with the dialogue “Jhukaga nahi…”.
Style: Seeing Allu Arjun’s moves and action scenes, the youth flooded the reels on social media.
My Feeling: I myself noticed that this film not only entertained the audience but also made its place in people’s hearts.

Krrish 4
Both kids and adults were eagerly waiting for Hrithik Roshan’s Krrish series. And Krrish 4 surpassed the expectations of the audience and became a huge hit with its release in 2025.
Superhero Genre: Kids enjoyed watching it twice because of the incredible visual effects.
Hrithik’s look: Hrithik’s fitness and dance won the hearts of women.
Family Movie: This movie was worth watching with the family.

Biggest Flop Movies of 2025
Now let’s talk about those films which cost crores to make but were rejected by the audience.
Amazing
The star cast may have been strong, but the story was so weak that people couldn’t connect.
Weaknesses of the story: The script was scattered and the plot incomprehensible.
Lack of emotion: The audience neither laughed nor cried in the film.
My Experience: I saw in the theatre that many people left their seats and walked out after the interval.

As soon as people hear the name of Salman Khan, they are inspired to buy tickets, but this time the case was the opposite.
Old thinking: The story of the film seemed very old and stretched.
Length: The movie was so long that people got bored.
Audience reaction: People on social media were saying that this film looks like a TV serial.
Collection: 50 Crore
Hero Number One (Remake)
Remaking Govinda’s classic film was not an easy task.
No impact of new stars: The new actors did not have that magic.
Competing with the original: Viewers clearly said “the original was the best

This was a romantic film but the script was so weak that the audience did not enjoy it.
Overdrama: The story felt too stretched. Youth does not connect: Today’s generation has rejected it.
Theatre atmosphere: When the song came on, people took out their mobile phones and started scrolling Instagram.

Brahmastra 2
The first film generated interest, but the subsequent film was disappointing.
Big budget, light story: Despite costing Rs 400 crore, the film failed to succeed at the box office.
VFX is good but content is weak.
Audience complaint: People missed the emotional connection.

Why did some movies become superhits and some flop? 2025 has made one thing clear – now the audience does not come to the theatres just to see the stars. The hit films were those that had a strong story, great action and emotion . Flop films were those that had only glamour and huge budgets but no heart-touching story. OTT platforms have changed the taste of the audience. Now people watch powerful Hollywood and South Indian series and movies every week. In such a situation, Bollywood will also have to raise its level.
My personal experience
I myself went to watch around 10 movies in theatres in 2025. When we saw Singham Again , the atmosphere in the theatre was filled with enthusiasm. The whole hall felt like a family. But when I went to watch Dil Se Dil Tak , people sitting around me were getting bored and were eating more popcorn and paying less attention to the movie.
I thought at that time that Bollywood needed to put more emphasis on content.
conclusion
2025 proved to be a turning point for Bollywood.
On one hand, films like Krissh 4, Jawan 2, Pushpa 2 and Pathan Returns broke records.
On the other hand, films like Brahmastra 2 and Adbhut taught us that a film cannot run just on the strength of stars without a strong story.
If you ask me, I would say that in the coming years, the audience will become even more practical. Now we need heart touching stories and not just big sets.
