This Independence Day, let’s experience the real story of our freedom – with 10 patriotic journeys across India!
India’s Top 10 Patriotic Travel Destinations to Visit This Independence Day 2025

Every year 15th August is not just a holiday for us, but a day to feel the spirit of freedom. Independence Day 2025 is even more special because people have started moving around freely again. This time I thought why not talk about those places which are the identity of our country’s history, bravery and patriotism. I have seen many of these places myself, and listening to the stories of those places which I have not seen, my desire to go there has increased.
Red Fort – Delhi

Whenever 15th August comes, the first name that comes to mind is Delhi’s Red Fort. From here the Prime Minister hoists the tricolour and addresses the nation.
I myself once went there on 15th August. There was a huge crowd, but when the tricolour flutters in the sky and the national anthem resonates, you get goosebumps. The old walls around, the Mughal architecture and the zeal of freedom – all together make it memorable.
India Gate – Delhi

Delhi’s India Gate is a place that makes you feel patriotic all the time. It is built in memory of the soldiers who died in the First World War.
I went there at night, when India Gate was shining in golden light. My heart became heavy while reading the names of the martyrs written there, but at the same time I felt proud that we are the descendants of such heroes
Jallianwala Bagh – Amritsar, Punjab

On hearing the name of Jallianwala Bagh, the chest swells with pride, but the eyes also become moist. That dark day of 1919… I myself saw the bullet marks here, and the well where people jumped to save their lives.
If you go to Amritsar, then along with the Golden Temple, you must visit Jallianwala Bagh. Every corner of this place tells the story of the struggle for freedom.
Netaji Bhavan – Kolkata, West Bengal

This is the house where Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose had made many revolutionary plans. His personal belongings, books and photos are kept here. When
I went here for the first time, I felt as if Netaji is still present here. The fragrance of patriotism emanates from the walls.
Cellular Jail – Andaman Nicobar

Andaman’s Cellular Jail, also known as ‘Kala Paani’, is the story of the pain and courage of the country’s freedom fighters.
I saw the light and sound show here. As soon as the stories of Veer Savarkar and other revolutionaries were narrated, my heart was touched. This jail in the middle of the ocean shows the true cost of freedom.
Sabarmati Ashram – Ahmedabad, Gujarat

Gandhiji’s Ashram, from where he started many movements. The peace and simplicity of this place touches the heart.
I tried spinning the charkha here and at that moment I realized that freedom can be achieved not only by weapons but also by patience and simplicity.
Ajmer – The land of Rajasthani heroes
Ajmer is not just a place of dargahs, but also filled with stories of Rajput heroes. While roaming in the forts and palaces here, you will feel as if you are lost in the pages of history.
While roaming in the streets here, I heard stories of independence from many elderly people. That tone, that enthusiasm – it was truly heart touching.

Kannur – Freedom Movement of Kerala
You may have heard less about it, but Kannur in Kerala has played a special role in the freedom struggle. Memories of many freedom fighters are present here.
I was sitting on the seashore here and thought – how far and wide this movement had spread, there was some brave man in every corner.
The Residency of Lucknow

An important witness to the 1857 revolution – Lucknow’s Residency. Even today, cannonballs and broken walls testify to the struggle that took place here.
I was standing here in silence, but in that silence, the sounds of war could be heard – swords, cannons, and the roar of the heroes.
Raj Ghat – Delhi

Gandhiji’s Samadhi – Rajghat, where people from all over the country and abroad come. The peace here is so deep that you start feeling yourself from within.
I spent a few minutes here with my eyes closed, and it felt as if time had stopped.
Learning from my journey
After visiting all these places, I understood one thing – we did not get independence just like that. Lakhs of people sacrificed their lives, their happiness and peace, everything so that we can breathe in the open air today.
Travelling on Independence Day should not be just a picnic, rather it is an opportunity to connect with our roots.
If you are also thinking of traveling on this Independence Day 2025
Do visit at least one historical place.
Learn the stories there, talk to people.
Carry the tricolour and wave it proudly.
Share not only photos but also your feelings on social media.
This time on 15th August I have decided that I will not just watch the live telecast of Red Fort, but will go to some new patriotic place.
Because travelling is not just to see the place, but to make the heart feel it – and the best way to feel patriotism is to see those corners of our country where the real story of independence was written.
